The Feeling of Prayer
May the Lord Equip Us
with His Armor

Part 1

“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.”
Ephesians 6:11, ESV

When I was a relatively new believer, I remember hearing President George W. Bush say that he knew people were praying for him because he felt it. I wondered what it felt like to have people praying for you. Here’s the transcript from December 2006 on Fox News:

BUSH: People seem to forget that there is still an enemy that would like to launch an attack on us and I am doing that job along with a lot of other really good people.
I also remind them, Brit, that Laura and I are sustained by the prayers of millions of people. Now that’s hard for some to – I guess chew on.
HUME: You sense that?
BUSH: Absolutely.
HUME: Well, I know they tell you that when you see them out on …
BUSH: I feel it.
HUME: You feel it?
BUSH: Yeah.
HUME: How much, in the terms of …
BUSH: Because the load is not heavy, I guess is the best way to describe it. Look, somebody said to me, prove it. I said, you can’t prove it. All I can tell you is I feel it. And it’s a remarkable country when millions pray for me and Laura. So therefore I am able to say to people that this is a joyful experience. Not a painful experience.

Six months later, I began my first pastorate in June of 2007. Even though I had been a Christian for ten years, it was the first time that I could honestly say that I felt people praying for me. I loved it.

But I also wondered why I had to become a pastor to experience it. Shouldn’t this be the normal experience of every Christian? How could we get the average Joe in the pew to experience the prayers of the president and the pastor? The answer to this question was Everybody Everyday. It’s a prayer initiative that ensures everybody in the local church gets prayed for every day.

Table Rock Fellowship is ready to pray for you every day. All you have to do is ask. Please send me your three prayer requests for the spring by 2/18/24. We’ll pray for you every day. It might just be the first time you feel God’s people praying for you.
