In Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 we are reminded that there is season for everything in life. There are times to mourn and times to rejoice. For me, today is a day to give God praise. In honor of the good that the Lord has done in the life of my family this weekend, I turn to the beautiful song of praise that is found in Psalm 100.

1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.

2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.

3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.

5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.

(Psalms 100:1-5 NIV11)

Praiseworthy

One of the most important ways that we can relate to the Lord is through times of praise. Times when we recognize the beauty, power, goodness, worthiness, and awesomeness of our God. This message from Psalm 100 calls the people of God to lift up their songs of love and rejoicing before the Lord. We are to celebrate the goodness of God, no matter our circumstances.

My Good News

This weekend I experienced the goodness of God through the graciousness and love of his people. My family and I spent the weekend surrounded by the people of Park Hill Baptist Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas. We joined with this particular family of faith because we felt the Lord calling us to be of service to Christ by shepherding and caring for this church as their new Senior Pastor.

My kids flew in to support us and to meet the people of the church. They were amazing. My three adult children met with everyone in the church and never showed any signs of being weary or uncomfortable. They blessed me and they blessed the church, and that is worthy of our praise and thanks.

On Sunday, the church affirmed our calling in an overwhelming and wholly unified way. This group of believers in Christ has completely accepted us into their family of faith and we have welcomed them into ours.

Your Turn

  •  What about you? What do you have to give God thanks for today?
  •  How has the Lord moved in your life?
  •  Where has the Lord met your needs?
  •  How has God used you to be a blessing to others?

Prayer

Lord Jesus Christ, I pause and give you thanks. You are worthy of my praise and I choose to give it freely. You are greater than my circumstances and worthy of my worship. Help me to respond to you with an attitude of praise.

In Christ,

Ryan Laden
