Day 4 — “You Are With Me”

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me.” — Psalm 23:4a


“God is closest when He seems most absent.” — Henri Nouwen

Thought:
The valley is not a failure of faith; it is part of the journey. Darkness, loss, uncertainty—these are not detours but landscapes we all must walk through. Notice the shift here: David stops talking about God and starts speaking to Him. Suffering has a way of doing that.

Fear loses its power not because the valley disappears, but because God is present. The Shepherd does not wait for us on the other side; He walks with us through the shadows.

Reflection:
What valley am I currently walking through?

Application:
Practice naming God’s presence in your valley rather than asking Him to remove it.

Prayer:
God who walks with me, thank You for not abandoning me in the dark. Help me trust Your nearness even when the path is unclear. Amen.

All these people will make a difference in their families and in their community. We will build up an ongoing network of support with Evangelical Christian churches, the Christian community, nonprofit organizations, business owners and families to continue to strengthen families.
