God is presently blessing us with forgiveness.

We have forgiveness from the penalty of sin. The penalty for sin is death. God sent his son to shed his blood and die in our place so that we could be forgiven.

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight (Ephesians 1:7-8, ESV).

God forgives us of our trespasses which are many. When it comes to trespasses, I am rich in them. I have more trespasses in my life than I can count. But are these trespasses more than the grace of God can handle? Is God rich enough in grace to pay the great debt of my trespasses? Yes, the riches of God’s grace are greater than all my sin. Where sin abounds, grace does much more abound. There is way more than enough grace than is necessary to provide forgiveness of all my sins.

Have you ever been to Multnomah Falls? Imagine putting your favorite coffee cup on a rock at the bottom of those falls. The water would be lavished upon your coffee cup. There would be way more than enough water to fill your cup again and again. God lavishes his grace upon us richly like the riches of water being lavished upon that coffee cup. But not indiscriminately. In all wisdom and insight. Grace in the right time in the right way for the right reason.

Thank God for how he is presently blessing us with the forgiveness of our sins according to the riches of his grace. Even if our sin abounds today, his grace abounds much more. Let’s keep thanking God for the way that he keeps forgiving us!

How is God presently blessing your life? Take turns sharing and then allow some time in prayer to thank God for the person to your right and how he is currently blessing them.
