Share Your Message
By: Pastor Victor Borchard
And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for I must stay at your house today.” (Luke 19:5)
Jesus initiated a conversation with a lost person. He made eye contact with him and started talking to him. Pretty simple, right?
What if we initiated conversations with lost people? We could look them respectfully in the eye and start talking with them. We might not invite ourselves over to their house in the same way that Jesus did, but we could definitely share a kind word with them.
I’m finding that kindness with a smile goes a long way in our polarized society. I’ve tried it in the bread store and on the sidewalk. People are pleasantly surprised. Not everybody, but many of them.
If they’re open to you as a person, God might just be opening them up to your message. Our message is as simple as two sentences with eleven words each. (1) The Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins and rose again. (2) Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.
Last Monday, I shared those two sentences with the Medford Chamber of Commerce. Do you know what they didn’t do? They didn’t throw rotten tomatoes. They didn’t boo me off the platform. That room filled with dignitaries and leaders of businesses and organizations proceeded to bow in prayer. And all the people said, “Amen.”
As you initiate conversations and respectfully share your message, you might be pleasantly surprised by the respect you’re shown and the reception you receive.
