The Bible is Profitable
By: Pastor Victor Borchard

16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16–17, ESV
I began working in retail when I was nine years old. My parents taught me the difference between sales profit. Income minus expenses equals profit. We wanted our family business to be profitable, financially.
Scripture is also profitable. There is a fourfold profitability of scripture: (1) teaching, (2) reproof, (3) correction and (4) training in righteousness. All scripture is profitable for teaching. It tells us what’s right. All scripture is profitable for reproof. It tells us what’s wrong. All scripture is profitable for correction. It tells us how to get right. All scripture is profitable for training in righteousness. It tells us how to stay right. You can ask these questions of any passage of Scripture that you read and as you do, you will profit greatly… Teaching: What’s right and true? (Theology about God, humanity, etc.) Reproof: What’s wrong? (Personal sins in my life) Correction: How to get right? (Changes I need to make) Training in righteousness: How to stay right? (Good habits to keep) Scripture is sweeter than honey and more valuable than gold. Today, let’s savor its’ sweetness, cherish its’ value and receive its’ profit – by God’s grace and for his glory!
