What God Has Done By His Grace
Victor Borchard

There once was a dead twelve year-old girl. Jesus made her alive (Luke 8:54). It showed his power over death. Believers once were spiritually dead, but God made us alive. It shows his grace.

Peter once walked on water in a huge storm, but then he started to sink and might have drowned. He cried out to Jesus, “Lord, save me,” (Matthew 14:30). We once were sinking down, sinking down, sinking down beneath God’s righteous frown. But when we cried out to Jesus, He saved us by His grace.

Lazarus was dead in the tomb. After four days he stunk. But Jesus called out, “Lazarus, come forth!” (John 11:43) Sure enough, up from the grave he arose. Although we were dead in our trespasses and sins, God raised us up with Christ, graciously.

Aaron the High Priest would go into the holiest place of all in the tabernacle. There, he would sit down on a mercy seat and meet with God (Ex. 30:6). Jesus is our High Priest in heaven and He is seated at the right hand of the throne of God (Heb. 8:1). God seated us with Jesus in the heavenly places. It is a most gracious seat of highest honor and greatest privilege.

Regenerated. Saved. Raised. Seated. God did these four things for us in order to showcase his grace throughout eternity future.

“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness
toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace
you have been saved through faith.”

Ephesians 2:4-8

In the coming ages, you and I will showcase God’s grace. God is very kind towards us in Christ Jesus. His kindness is an expression of his grace. Not just a little bit of grace. God’s not poor in grace. Grace is something he is immeasurably rich in. Not in an abstract sort of a way. The immeasurable riches of his grace have been lavished upon us through his kindness towards us in Christ Jesus.

Regeneration, salvation, resurrection and enthronement. Look at what God has done for folks like you and me! We deserved death, but God kindly made us alive by his grace. We deserved condemnation, but God kindly saved us by his grace. We deserved a resurrection of judgment, but God kindly resurrected us to life by his grace. We deserved enslavement rather than enthronement, but God kindly seated us with Christ in the heavenly places by his grace.

For by grace you have been saved through faith.

Today, let’s rest in the finished work of Christ and let’s trust that He who started a good work in us will be faithful to complete it in us and that forever.

· Consider what God does for us by his grace: regeneration, salvation, resurrection and enthronement. Which of these accomplishments is especially meaningful for you today? Why?
