“Be kind and compassionate to one another,
forgiving each other,
just as in Christ God forgave you.”

Ephesians 4:32

Have you ever been on the receiving end of a random act of kindness? If you have, didn’t that moment just brighten your whole day, or maybe even your whole week? It could have been as simple as the person in the car in front of you paying for you coffee in the drive thru line. But that one simple act made all the difference for you.

This is just one prime example of the kind of impact a random act of kindness can have on someone. So if we can know and understand the effect kindness can have on people, why are we not more intentional to show kindness towards everyone we come in contact with?

At its core, kindness is really just reaching out to other people with God’s love, doing all that we can to help them experience God the way we do. So many people in this world are hostile not only to what we believe, but also to the One we believe in. But if we reach out to these people, with the help of the Holy Spirit, we can show them kindness in a way they may have never experienced before.

Kindness is something we give, even to people who don’t deserve it. We weren’t deserving of kindness either, but God showed us kindness anyways when He sent His Son to die for us. So let’s treat the people around us unconditionally as well and make a point to carry out more random acts of kindness.
