 Keep Thanking God
for His Future Blessings

The case for my contact lenses doesn’t hold much fluid. It isn’t very wide or very deep.

The Pacific Ocean is very different. It’s very deep and wide. The capacity of water is huge.

As I think about my enjoyment of God’s past and present blessings, it does not compare to how much we will enjoy his future blessings. It’s like the difference between my contact case and the Pacific Ocean.

This life is short. It’s but a vapor. It’s here today and gone tomorrow. Eternity goes on and on. We will enjoy God’s future blessings throughout eternity. When we’ve been there ten thousand years, bright shining as the sun, we’ve no less days to sing God’s praise than when we first begun.

God promises to complete the good work that he started in us. We will receive our inheritance in full. This is a future blessing.

“In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.”
Ephesians 1:13-14, ESV

On that day, we will be completely conformed to the image of Jesus Christ. We will see him face to face. We will enjoy the full experience of every spiritual blessing. We will be forever holy and blameless before his fiery eyes. Our redemption from sin will be complete so that we are forever emancipated from its power, allure and presence. Our union with Christ shall be consummated. We will love and be loved perfectly. We will know Christ with a perfection of wisdom. Our hearts will be fully and radiantly enlightened. We will know and be gripped by the hope to which he has called us. We will fully enter into the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints. We shall be resurrected according to his glorious power that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead. And we shall be with him.

These are future blessings in Christ. Our endless enjoyment of them will be oceanic. Here is a feast of thanksgiving. May we never cease to give thanks to God for the blessings He promises to give us forevermore!

Reflection Question:

How is the Holy Spirit like an engagement ring? See Ephesians 1:13-14. What was your engagement like? How thankful were you for the promised blessing of married life? How does this help us to give thanks to God for his promise future blessings? We are betrothed to Christ and will one day feast at the marriage supper of the great God. The Holy Spirit guarantees our inheritance of these future blessings. Let’s keep thanking him from here to there.
