Today’s devotional is about what God is doing in the next generation. Across the world we are hearing stories of waves of people 30 and under who are making the choice to declare their faith in Jesus. This wave of faith has been noticed by news outlets across the world but these worldly reporters do not understand what they are seeing as millions of young people have been attending church, being baptized, and reading their Bible. See an example here. 

Today’s devotional is simple. 

I would ask you to be a part of what God is doing. How can you be a part of God’s work of generational change? You can hear the will of God for the next generations in the message of Psalm 78:1-7. 

1    My people, hear my teaching; listen  to the words of my mouth.

2 I will open my mouth with a parable; I will utter hidden things, things from of old— 3 things we have heard and known,   things our ancestors have told  us. 4We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell  the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD,  his power, and the wonders  he has done.

5  He decreed statutes for Jacob and established the law in Israel, which he commanded  our ancestors to teach   their children, 6 so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell  their children.

7 Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands.

(Psalm 78:1-7 NIV11)

See that it is God’s will that you and I should be doing all we can to share our faith with those of the next generation. The Lord is calling you an me to show them the love of God in our actions and words in such a way that those of the next generation will accept and own their own faith. 

You can be a part of what God is doing in the next generation by praying for those in your life and church that are in this new generation. Pray that they will hear the truth and take action on what God reveals in their hearts. 

See the picture included in this devotional. This was taken last night at a worship gathering of middle school students who were praying, worshiping, and standing up for their faith in Jesus. 

  •  Join with them as you pray for them. 
  •  Join with them as you give to your church and support ministries that reach out to this generation. 
  •  Join with them by committing yourself to share your own faith with those of the next generation. 

I am grateful to be alive at such a time as this. Praise Jesus.
