Congratulations!
You made it to Friday.

Promises:

As we have been working through the message of the Beatitudes this week, you will have noticed that each of the character traits that the follower of Christ is called to pursue comes with a promise or a gift.

Today we are going to focus on these promises and gifts and see what they teach us about the work that the Lord seeks to accomplish in each of us.

Here are these promises listed out in order:

… theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

… they will be comforted.

… they will inherit the earth.

… they will be filled.

… they will be shown mercy.

… they will see God.

… they will be called children of God.

(See Matthew 5:1-9 for more context)

Meditation for Today:

As you go through your schedule today, consider choosing one or two of these promises and gifts from the Lord as a focus for your times of prayer and reflection.

When you stop to reflect on the Lord, give thanks for the gift that means the most to you today.

Perhaps one of these promises seems especially distant or far away from where you are in your walk with God today. Consider focusing on that promise and the adjoining calling from Jesus that is included in the first section of that Beatitude.

For example…

I am feeling far from God at the moment and I would love to “see God” at work in my life.

Looking back at the Beatitude that includes this promise, I see that that the Lord is calling me to pursue purity in my heart, in my words, in my attitudes, and in my actions.

So today, I am going to prayerfully and intentionally seek purity. I believe that the Lord will show me his will and that I will see the Lord at work as I submit to his will.

Profitable:

I hope this study has been profitable for you and that you are growing in your walk with God as you join the family of faith in these times of study and prayer.
