One of the ways that God has given his people to connect with the Lord is through the act of worship. Lifting up the name and person of the Lord through times of praise and intentional adoration are not only what we need most in our life, but they are ways that we can bring pleasure to the Lord.
In the passage that follows we hear one of the many calls to worship found throughout the Bible. We are made for worship and we are made to lift up the Lord’s name in song.
1 Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him.
2 Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre.
3 Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy.
4 For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does.
(Psalms 33:1-4 NIV11)
We might not all be able to play skillfully for the Lord, but we can all lift up our voices and our hearts in times of musical worship.
If you are looking for ways to engage with the Lord in this way today, I submit the following options. I hope they bring you closer to the Lord and fill your heart with his joy.
